Cruz jokes that Duck Dynasty star should get diplomatic post

In his final campaign push before the South Carolina Republican presidential primary on Saturday, Sen. Ha ha. What I’m not willing to let go of is the fact that Ted Cruz seems to be suggesting here that he agrees with the sorts of things that Phil Robertson says.

“Just for a thought experiment, imagine for a second, Phil Robertson as Ambassador to the United Nations”, Cruz joked after thanking Robertson for the complimentary speech.

A well-known reality star is taking a break from duck hunting to the campaign trail.

Turning to the candidate he endorsed, Robertson compared Cruz to the late Justice Antonin Scalia saying the Texas senator is an “originalist”. “He actually remembers who we are as Americans”, Cruz said of Robertson.

Cruz said, “You know what, there’s a reason [Robertson] terrifies the mainstream media”.

Speaking ahead of Cruz, Robertson urged voters to “rise up as the sons and daughters of God” and put “a staunch, Bible-belieiving, Jesus-loving, Godly man” in the White House.
