Samsung Unveils Gear 360 Virtual Reality Action Camera
The Samsung Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge were leaked in a separate brochure coming from Europe earlier this week.
“The flat-screened Galaxy S7 retains the 5.1″ 2560×1440 AMOLED screen of its predecessor, while the Galaxy S7 edge’s screen grows to 5.5” with the same resolution.
The S7 has 2550mAh-3000mAh battery, while for the Edge it is 2600mAh-3600mAh.
Both smartphones will be available locally from March 11 and priced at AUD$1,149 for the 32GB Galaxy S7 and AUD$1,249 RRP for 32GB Galaxy S7 Edge. They come with a 12MP camera, which is slightly pared-down compared to the 16MP on the Galaxy S6. The phones” rear cameras should be much better in low light, thanks to Samsung’s use of a F1.7 sensor and a feature called “dual pixel’, which is claimed to work like human eyes, sensing depth and detail super speedy like. Now of course with the latest and greatest from Samsung, you can’t exactly remove the back plate and replace the battery if needs be.
Samsung has also brought back the expandable storage function, now upgradeable to 200GB via microSD.
You can also shoot 180-degree wide-angle video and images by only using one side of the camera. They will be available in Gold Platinum, Black Onyx, Single Titanium and White Pearl.
When Gear 360 is synced with a Samsung smartphone, users will be able to preview content in real time when recording.
Customers won’t have to order it from Samsung either, with all the carriers in the United Kingdom supporting the offer of the free VR headset.
You can even share it straight to a Gear Virtual Reality headset – or to others via 360 capabilities in Facebook and Youtube. It’s incredibly fast and it means you can take sharp, focused pictures more quickly with less risk of missing the moment you want to capture.
Samsung’s DJ Koh described the phones as the most advanced and attractive phones on the planet. There have been some rumours that have been suggested a Qualcomm chip for the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge but this retail box indicates at a Exynos 8890 chipset.
