Calvin Harris congratulates Taylor Swift following Grammy win
The powerful speech will certainly inspire her fans and admirers, but many will also take her comments as a reaction to the current feud she has with Kanye West.
Earlier in the week, reps for both Swift and West issued conflicting statements regarding the “Famous” lyric: While West claimed that Swift “thought it was amusing and gave her blessings”, Swift’s rep claimed she never approved of the “misogynistic” lyric. But in a turn of events, Kanye’s disrespectful new song ended their truce, and Taylor clapped back in her Grammys acceptance speech on Monday.
On the song,”Famous” he raps, “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / Why?” Then Kanye, as we all remember, jumped onstage, grabbed the mic, and said, “Yo, Taylor, I’m really happy for you and I’mma let you finish, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time”. But if you just focus on the work … you will look around and you will know that it was you and the people who love you that put you there. “One of the best videos of all time!”
‘Plus Taylor wanted to prove that she can stand alone in the face of bullies, like Kanye West. She doesn’t need a guy to protect her and she doesn’t need a man to define who she is’. “Thank you for this moment” – the Grammy-winner expressed, as reported by E!
The matter would have ended there but in 2010, Kanye West in an interview with Access Hollywood listed Taylor Swift’s album Fearless amongst the albums that should not have won the Grammy for the best album of the year. “There’s people that are in debt that don’t have a hit album out also – you know what I’m saying?”
