Marco Rubio: Media Stuck Playing Donald Trump’s Game
If Rubio doesn’t win in any of South Carolina’s seven congressional districts – and the early returns suggest Trump will win all of them – he’ll get zero delegates.
Commenting on their victories, the conservative billionaire who now leads the Republican campaign for the White House said that a Clinton-Trump contest would bring out “the greatest turnout in history”.
Nevada doesn’t stand up to, say, OH as a bellwether, but it’s far more representative of the rest of the country – and, in particular, of Democratic voters – than New Hampshire. It’s tough, it’s nasty, it’s mean, it’s vicious, it’s lovely. “We’re going to work hard to do so”.
The end of the Bush family dynasty came as anti establishment candidate Trump won big yesterday, a virtual second place tie between Florida Sen. “For those who said winning in November was their top candidate quality, Marco won with 49 percent”. I know that I am.
But ultimately, despite starting his campaign with the support of a 0 million super PAC, Republican voters could not be persuaded to support yet another Bush candidate over the likes of non-traditional contenders like frontrunner Donald Trump.
Marco Rubio, fresh off his second place finish in Saturday’s SC primary, said Nikki Haley, the governor of the state, would be “on everyone’s short list” for vice president.
Mrs Clinton’s roughly five-point win eased the rising anxieties of her backers, who feared a growing challenge from Mr Sanders.
“Tonight I’m going to sleep with the best friend I have and the love of my life”. That didn’t change on Saturday, when Rubio lost the South Carolina Republican primary, finishing behind angry rich guy Donald Trump for the third time this primary season.
Mrs Clinton’s next test will be in the Democrats’ South Carolina primary on 27 February.
With 99 percent of SC precincts reporting, Trump had 32.5 percent, followed by Rubio with 22.5 percent and Cruz with 22.3 percent.
The candidates will now focus on “Super Tuesday” next month, where more than 10 states will hold a series of primaries.
“Some may have doubted us, but we never doubted each other”, Clinton said in a fiery left-leaning speech clearly aimed at the minority voters who make up roughly half of the state’s population and who are key in the US South.
Mr Rubio said he was in good shape to more directly take on Mr Trump in a smaller Republican field after Jeb Bush pulled out.
