UK Football player arrested for speeding and marijuana charges
The officer then found one quarter of a pound of marijuana stuffed down Hatcher’s trousers and another three quarters of a pound of marijuana in the passenger floor board in a vacuum-sealed bag, Melton said.
When Hatcher was pulled over for speeding Monday morning, the officer reported smelling marijuana in the vehicle, according to Franklin Country Sheriff Pat Melton. Hatcher told deputies that he was on his way back to Lexington from his mother’s house in Louisville. A radar recorded the vehicle going 81 miles per hour in an area where the speed limit was 70.
Hatcher was booked in the Franklin County Regional Jail.
Hatcher, a United Kingdom junior defensive end, has had some previous criminal and team troubles.
Hatcher has a history with transgressions, both with the program and the law.
He had previously been cited for marijuana possession in May 2014 and given a second chance to stay on the team by Stoops.
But Hatcher has never lived up to his billing, and he’s made more headlines off the field than he has on it. With him gone, United Kingdom will now have lost all of their starting linebackers from last season. He also was suspended the first two games of the 2015-16 season for unspecified team rules violations. His arraignment was scheduled for Monday morning.
