Five Bucs named Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholars
Lehigh’s Harley Abrams and Loyola University Maryland’s Jimmy Dengler have each been honored as Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholars by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) for their success on the course and in the classroom.
In order to eligible for the Division I scholar award, juniors and seniors must carry a minimum of a 3.2 cumulative grade-point average while also averaging under a 76.0 stroke average. All must also be of a high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
Harrell and Kieffer become the 17th and 18th CSU golfers all-time to earn GCAA All-America Scholar honors.
Saxon, who missed the entire fall season with an injury, competed in nine team events as a senior. The recent graduate competed in all 11 tournaments and recorded a career-best 74.52 stroke average.
Park (5-9, 165, Sr., Kendal, England) also is on the Dean’s List with a 3.938 GPA, and earned his degree in journalism this past May. At the Liberty Spring Invitational, Titsworth finished in a season-best, six-way tie for first place with a three-round 213 (-3).
Tyler Thomas, Kelly Catholic’s TAAPS-5A 2010 state tournament champion and the 2011 Beaumont Enterprise golfer of the year, ended his collegiate career at Texas State by adding a final piece of hardware to his trophy case. All five Jacket starters in the NCAA Championship made the Atlantic Coast Conference All-Academic golf team in June, while Albertson was named ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year in the sport. Marquette won its second BIG EAST Championship in April and advanced to NCAA Regionals for the second time. He was fourth on the team in scoring (75.95) in 21 rounds played last season, one of five MU players to rank in the BIG EAST’s top 20.
