Rubio, Cruz take aim at Trump
Ironically, the Republican race is disproving Sanders’ No. 1 argument: If big money determined victory in United States politics, Trump’s low-spending effort would’ve failed long ago.
On Saturday, Trump handily won in SC.
Many donors are nervous about nominating either Trump, who notched massive wins in New Hampshire and SC, or Texas Sen.
It took around an hour for authorities to confirm real-estate mogul and reality television star Donald Trump had won the South Carolina Republican primary. In South Carolina, he picked up the endorsement of Gov. Nikki Haley, Sen.
“All the establishment circled their wagons around Marco and yet he still only came in second after his campaign promised they were gonna win the state”, he said. “So going forward, I think Ted Cruz has to talk about how the evangelical vote isn’t just about social issues…it’s about your view of America”. I’d rather win with women, to be honest with you. “He bridges the gaps and brings everybody together”.
“Trump has to start acting like a presidential candidate and tone down the rhetoric and don’t insult anybody”, Dole said. Nevada Democrats caucused on Saturday and gave Hillary Clinton a clear victory over Bernie Sanders.
Trump went on to say he expects to win states – in his words – “Republicans don’t even think of”.
“I think there’s an underlying question that maybe is really in the back of people’s minds and that is, you know, is she in it for us or is she in it for herself?”
“The people of Iowa, New Hampshire and SC have spoken and I respect their decision, so with that I am suspending my campaign”, Bush said.
The one-time 17-candidate Republican field has now dwindled to five – Trump, Cruz, Rubio, Ohio Governor John Kasich and former neurosurgeon Ben Carson.
Cruz countered that he’s the only Republican who’s been able to beat Trump so far, referring to his victory in leadoff Iowa.
“I’m proud of the campaign that we’ve run to unify our country”, Bush added. He is leading the polls in the 12 states that will vote on March 1, during the so-called “Super Tuesday”.
“If [Trump] has a good day on Super Tuesday, that’s going to be hard to deny him the nomination”. Establishment heavyweights have moved to back Rubio, with many saying they see him as the candidate who can unite a disharmonious Republican Party.
