Facebook wants you to say happy birthday with video
Tap it and you can record your message. Facebook says you can complete the process in about as much time as it takes to blow out the candles on birthday cake.
The new feature is only available on Apple Inc.
This video includes clips from Facebook and images from Getty Images. This represents a 60% increase over the number of wishes two years ago.
Most of the messages are the simple “happy birthday!”, though there could be a few who will put more effort into the message by attaching a picture and a slightly longer message. The camera concept will give users a creative way of expressing themselves.
The feature will be launched for iOS on February 29, which means leap year babies will be the first ones to receive Birthday Cam greetings on Facebook.
In 2013, Facebook introduced a birthday notification system. There are also festive birthday decorations to add to your post as well. The feature lets you record 15-second videos for your friends on their big day. People were very used just to post a message, but now they can send clear messages to their buddies.
“Having [my friends] post “HBD” on my wall is awesome”, Soong said.
It’s an interesting idea and given that it will start rolling out to users on Monday, we reckon that you can expect to start seeing a lot more video wishes on your wall, assuming your birthday hasn’t passed already.
