Case against Salman, Owaisi for Memon remarks
In connection with Bollywood superstar Salman Khan’s black buck poaching case, the Rajasthan High Court on Tuesday allowed the actor to summon 5 prosecution witnesses for re-examination.
It said that complainant Ravindra Himmatrao Patil, a constable with the Mumbai Police, was sitting with Salman Khan on the front seat of the vehicle and he had been harassed at the instance of the accused.
The plea also seeks for the cancellation of bail given to Salman Khan after the conviction where he was sentenced for fiver years of jail term.
A lower court had turned down Salman’s request to introduce five witnesses in the case, following which he had approached the High Court in Jodhpur with a criminal miscellaneous petition.
The court accepted the prosecutor’s plea and rejected the application. His sister, Alvira, was, however, present. A case has been lodged against Salman Khan and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi for giving out objectionable statements regarding the death penalty of 1993 Bombay bomb blast convict Yakub Memon!
Sentence was suspended on May 08, and fresh bail was granted in cash of Rs 30,000 in lieu of surety as a temporary measure. The complaint has been filed under the section 124A (sedition) and others of Indian Penal Code, the report stated.
