Bethesda introduces Doom’s King of the Hill mode, single-use power-ups
Bethesda has released details on DOOM’s Warpath multiplayer mode alongside info on how the game’s one-time use powerups, Hack Modules, work.
Call of Duty made the idea of “perks” mainstream.
Doom isn’t out for a few more months yet, but if you just can’t wait, what better way to kill some time than by blasting your way through the pixelated demons in the original versions of the game? Simply put, if you’ve never played the game before, or want to show a friend what all the fuss is about, this is a great place to start. “Scout” is the one I’m a bit iffy on. We’ve seen this deal pop up before, most noticeably with Fallout 4 landing players a copy of Fallout 3, and we’re about to score even more classic titles out of it! “But none of these affect the game’s balance by changing how powerful your gun is or anything like that”. Steinman was keen to note that Hack Modules will only be earnable in-game; they will not be sold through microtransactions.
“While these are all on timers, your active Hack Module will pause when you die, allowing you to use the remaining time on your module, or to pick another module before you respawn (and thus reserve the remaining time in your prior module for later use)”, Bethesda explained.
When it comes to multiplayer main developer id Software and Certain Affinity are offering classic deathmatch as well as domination, clan arena, freeze tag and more.
I’m on board with Hack Modules. Do pre-order bonuses like free old games convince them to choose one system over another? In it, the fast but strategic nature of DOOM’s gameplay is put to the test, where standing still presents a massive disadvantages to your chances of survival.
Wondering how long DOOM’s single-player campaign is?
Also announced in the post were “hack modules”.
