Those Ministers must be arrested now.
AAP chief and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal joined the students in protest at the Jantar Mantar in Delhi on Tuesday.
“Everybody is unhappy with this government – Dalits, students, teachers, industrialists and traders”, said Kejriwal. Criticising the government for “carelessly” using the term “anti-national” against students, a student said that he had travelled to Delhi because he respected the cause for which Rohith was fighting.
The protesters have also demanded the action against union ministers Smriti Irani and Bandaru Dattatreya, accused by Rohith’s supporters for forcing him to commit suicide.
Speaking at the protest, Gandhi said that RSS and Narendra Modi government were crushing voices of dissent in educational institutions. “Rohith was talking about the present and the future”.
“If you really want to fight this oppression, we need an anti-discrimination law enacted in all colleges and universities that stops any kind of prejudice and bigotry against the weaker section”.
“If Modiji does not mend ways then very soon the youth and students will come together to teach him a lesson”, Kejriwal said, adding “I had said earlier, “Modiji students se pange mat lena” (don’t mess with students)”.
“We don’t want an India where an ideology is imposed upon us”.
The family is in the capital for participating in a protest in support of the issues surrounding JNU and the Hyderabad Central University. “It is a sad moment when we can not welcome Rohith’s parents properly and they are here in Delhi demanding justice for their son”.
CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury said Kanhaiya Kumar was being charged with sedition for saying that India needed freedom from “poverty, hunger, feudalism and casteism”.
The march saw CPI leader A Raja, chairperson of National Commission for Scheduled Caste, PL Punia, women’s rights activist Kavita Krishnan, activist Medha Patkar and documentary filmmaker Anand Patwardhan, among others.
