Brody the puppy recovering after being shot with 18 BBs
Six-week-old Brody was shot more than a dozen times with a BB gun, but doctors say he appears to be on track to a full recovery.
“He seems like he’s gonna pull through. He’s really, really sweet”.
“It’s just been an overwhelming amount of support and you know it was a very sad beginning, but I think it’s going to be a very happy ending for him”, said Dr. Hreiz. Workers at the animal hospital where he was taken have named him Brody.
Rock Hill Police Capt. Mark Bollinger said no arrests have been made, and investigators have had no luck in locating Brody’s owner. They determined the lab-mix puppy is about 6 weeks old. The wounds have already started to heal quickly since the initial injuries.
‘Brody is too young to surgically remove the BB’s [sic] and may not need surgery if they stay inert and inactive (which they usually do). For now, we will keep a close eye on him as he recovers and make sure he stays comfortable and loved!
X-rays show BB’s inside puppy shot 18 times.
Brody was doing well just one day after he was rescued, with the veterinarian overseeing his care calling his recovery “remarkable”. “Thanks again!” Project Safe Pet, an animal welfare society that helps abused and neglected animals recover and transition into forever homes, has been raising money to cover the tortured puppy’s veterinary bills.
‘As such, they will no longer be taking applications for this little man’. Two teenagers were arrested Tuesday afternoon in connection with the case.
According to police, it was a utility worker who noticed a group of teenagers standing in a circle before walking away. The older of the two has been identified as 17-year-old De’Monte Ty’Juan Douglas.
Bollinger said the older teen is in jail without bond, while the 14-year-old has been released to a parent.
