ŠKODA AUTO India launches Superb
With just 0.5% market share in India, Skoda has been carrying out a clean-up act in the last few years, while correcting service and high cost of ownership issues. Skoda India is likely to launch the new Supers with a price tag between 22 lakh and 28 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
The third-generation Superb is more powerful than ever and yet it is up to 30 per cent more economical thanks to new and efficient engines and improved aerodynamics. The model will be available at all company dealerships from Tuesday. After making its worldwide debut in Prague, the new generation Skoda Superb will make it first official appearance in to the Indian market today.
Because of its more drawn out structure, the side profile looks huge with some smooth wrinkles and attractive electrically customizable ORVMs, energetic compounds and marginally sloping roofline.
Interiors boast of electrically adjustable seats, dual zone air conditioning, parking sensors along with touchscreen infotainment system powered by SamrtLink (compatible with MirrorLink, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto) with Bluetooth, FM Radio, JPEG viewer and SD Card slot.
Available in two grades: Style and L&K.
The vehicle is fitted as standard with Electronic Stability Control including Multi-Collision Brake, electronic Tyre Pressure Monitoring, eight airbags, five three-point seat belts with fastening alerts as well as safety headrests.
Under the hood the India-bound Skoda Superb will come with the re-tuned versions of the existing 1.8 TSI petrol & 2.0 TDI CR diesel units in all likelihood. As far as looks the new Skoda Superb obtains heaps of outline bits from the staggering Vision C idea. This motor is mated to a 6-speed DSG. The top most diesel variant is priced at Rs. 29.37 lakh (ex- Showroom Mumbai). Interestingly, the petrol engine synced with a manual gearbox puts out 320Nm of torque while the one with the DSG develops 250Nm as the latter gearbox has been designed for lower torque applications. However, if we factor in the all-new platform, a new design and the added equipment as standard, the new Superb offers good value and is on its way to replicate the success of the old model.
