Winter Storm Warning issued Wednesday into Thursday
Snow will begin late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning, possibly briefly starting as a mix of rain or snow.
The Winter Storm Warning applies to Cook and Will counties in IL and Lake and Porter counties in northwest Indiana.
However, the National Weather Service is calling for a slight warming trend with highs through the rest of the week in the mid- to high-50s.
A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for the higher terrain of the Ozarks in Franklin, Madison, & Carroll Co UNTIL 8am Wednesday.
The weather service said the combination of snow and wind could result in damage to trees and scattered power outages.
Travel conditions are expected to quickly deteriorate Wednesday morning as Coulson believes with the current forecast, the bulk of the morning commute should be slow for drivers.
Rain will fall Tuesday afternoon as the storm approaches from Texas before transitioning into a rain and snow mix in Northwest Arkansas around 9 p.m., meteorologist Julie Lesko said.

Strong northerly winds are likely to gust up to 45 miles per hour across the Chicago area, too.
After that system exits, we’ll be dry on Friday but keep temperatures below freezing all day with mostly cloudy skies.
