Bernie Sanders Mocks Idea That Wall Street Money Won’t Influence Hillary Clinton
A large majority of black voters supported Mrs Clinton in Nevada, according to polls, an outcome that bodes well for her in next Saturday’s Democratic primary in sc.
“You know, that’s just not what our analysis shows, number one”, she said on CNN’s State of the Union.
Sanders did better than expected with Latino voters, entrance polling showed, but Clinton carried off a big win with African American voters – a segment of the population she’s counting on to help her win in the Southern states that vote next month. He lost to Texas Sen.
In the final week before caucus day, Clinton was a frequent casino campaigner, making multiple trips to Caesars Palace and Harrah’s.
More than half the 2,383 delegates needed to win the Democratic nomination will be determined in the 28 states that hold primaries and caucuses in March. BEN CARSON “You know there are news people here who think that I’m going to make a concession speech”, Carson joked. Iowa and New Hampshire are overwhelmingly white and Democrats in those states tend to be more liberal than the national party.
Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders speaks at a campaign event in Sparks, Nevada, on February 19, 2016.
Mrs Clinton admitted she had a “trust issue”.
The former secretary of state first declared victory on social media, posting on Twitter, “To everyone who turned out in every corner of Nevada with determination and heart: This is your win”.
“The Hillary Clinton campaign has enough funding, has a wide enough reach that she and her campaign staff are able to reach into North Carolina even though the primary here isn’t until mid-March”, said Ferrel Guillory, a UNC journalism professor. Voters in those states all weigh in on “Super Tuesday”, March 1. He issued a statement just a few minutes ago congratulating her on her victory. He played up his success among Latino voters in Nevada, but acknowledged he need to do better among black voters.
Right now, Sanders’s solitary win in New Hampshire looks like the exception not the rule. Candidates who get knocked down and find a way to get back up.
Instead, he was outpaced by Republican candidates Rick Santorum, the eventual victor of the caucuses, and Mitt Romney, the eventual nominee. So victories in big states matter more in terms of perception than as a means to securing the nomination.
Sanders echoed those sentiments again at his speech Saturday afternoon, saying that when the campaign first set out in Nevada “we were way behind”, but that his surge of support, bolstered by more than 4 million unique campaign contributions, has carried him to this point.
