Ted Cruz Campaign Apologizes for Claiming Marco Rubio Renounced Christianity
Marco Rubio’s super PAC has the Republican airwaves mostly to itself in the expensive Super Tuesday states, as rival campaigns and super PACs move slowly to begin airing advertisements ahead of March 1. Rubio called Cruz campaign the “nastiest” in SC history Monday.
Despite Tyler’s subsequent apology, Cruz said he asked for his exit from the campaign.
“Sometimes you live on the edge and get away with it, and sometimes you can’t”, Carney said. Then in the week before South Carolinians voted, we saw the Cruz campaign and their allies unleash a wave of lies about Marco’s record, anonymous push polls, outrageous robocalls, fake Facebook posts, personal insults directed at popular SC leaders, and ads that had to actually be taken down.
But Cruz’s response runs counter to his own comments to CNN in January, when he dismissed a “deportation force” and said: “I don’t intend to send jackboots to knock on your door and every door in America”.

“I have made clear in this campaign we will conduct this campaign with the very highest standards and integrity”, Cruz told reporters Monday, adding that Tyler is a “good man”. Pearson later left Cruz’s campaign and joined Bernie Sanders. It ended in SC when Donald Trump beat Ted Cruz among evangelicals after coming out in support of Planned Parenthood. He’s supposed to be the messiah on the road to Washington, but no reading of the New Testament shows Jesus playing a bunch of dirty tricks on the road to Jerusalem.
His communications director Rick Tyler shared a video that falsely showed Rubio telling a staffer there was “not many” answers in the Bible when in fact Rubio said “all the answers are in there”.
Ted Cruz’s presidential race has had more than its fair share of controversies.
The conservative senator said that, like Mr Trump, he would round up and forcibly deport illegal immigrants but, unlike the businessman, would not let them re-enter the country if they had broken United States immigration laws.
The Rubio campaign, through spokesman Alex Conant, had used the moment to identify a “culture in the Cruz campaign” in which “no lie is too big and no trick too dirty”. However, the Rubio campaign hit them in a sensitive place, and something had to be done.
This comes in the wake of another supposed scandal, which involved Tyler pushing an inaccurate video claiming Marco Rubio mocked the Bible.
Arguing, in Sanders’ words, that the “system is rigged”, Lee praises Sanders for not taking money from corporations in the ad. And in a reference to one of his early films, Lee says that once in the White House, Sanders will “do the right thing”. “I know exactly what I said to that young man”, Rubio said to reporters in Las Vegas.
The story was accompanied by a video, though the audio was unclear. “I’ve deleted the post because I would not knowingly post a false story”.
That afternoon, reports emerged that Cruz was calling for Tyler’s resignation after the Facebook post – one of a series of incidents that called his tactics into question.
Rubio assailed the former reality TV star’s credentials on foreign policy and healthcare.
