Clinton, Trump come out on top in SC, Nev
Before the New Hampshire primary earlier this month, it was assumed that the Nevada caucus was going to be a victory for Hillary Clinton.
Sanders is expected to lose to Clinton in Saturday’s primary in SC – where the Clintons vacationed when President Bill Clinton was in office – with a heavily black Democratic electorate, a key Clinton constituency.
“We actually won the Latino vote yesterday, which is a big breakthrough for us”, Sanders told “Meet the Press”.
North Carolina has 121 Democratic delegates, making it an important state for candidates. Suddenly, Nevada was in doubt.
“To everyone who turned out in every corner of Nevada with determination and heart: This is your win”.
Entrance polls conducted by Edison indicated Bernie Sanders won the Hispanic vote over Mrs Clinton in Nevada by 8 percentage points, a sign of potential weakness for Mrs Clinton even as she won Nevada overall.
Reince Priebus (ryns PREE’-bus) is talking about a scenario where no presidential candidate comes to the GOP convention this summer with the necessary number of delegates from the primary campaign to clinch the nomination on the first ballot. She said: “I think there’s an underlying question that maybe is in the back of people’s minds and that is, ‘Is she in it for us or is she in it for herself?’ I’m going to do my very best to answer those questions”. They are mapping out plans to stay close to Clinton in the delegate count until the race turns to friendlier territory later in March. Bernie Sanders by 5.5 points in Nevada on Saturday and staked her campaign on appealing to Latinos by pledging to go further than President Obama on relief for undocumented immigrants.
“We’re looking into the copyright issues here”. That is thanks to a 3-to-1 advantage among black voters, according to a Bloomberg politics poll. Sanders was the momentum candidate in each of those races. He will win additional contests and demonstrate the extent to which he-or at least, his ideology-is the future of the Democratic Party.
The Sanders campaign has played up the photo, taken by The Chicago Tribune, as evidence of his Civil Rights bona fides.
He needed “another Iowa” in Nevada, a surprising dead heat to cause a wobble in the Clinton camp, but couldn’t muster the same support outside of the diehards on college campuses. “If she cannot be trusted with security information, she can’t be trusted with the White House”. That group voted by almost 10 to 1 for Clinton, according to entrance polls. In Nevada, Democrats allow same-day registration.
But the uncertainty that has defined the race since New Hampshire is over for the time being. On Friday, she paid visits to the employee break rooms of multiple Las Vegas casinos, pledging to be a “fighter” for them.
Clinton’s win yesterday means that opportunity has come and gone. Now that she has it, her road ahead looks more stable and steady.
