Mercedes-AMG C43 4Matic Coupe revealed for Geneva
The C43 gets a 3.0-liter twin turbo V6 making 362 hp and 384 lb-ft of torque. Meet the C43 Coupe, which has just been unveiled ahead of its world premiere at the 2016 Geneva Auto Show. We’d call it a diet AMG, though we’re sure Mercedes would hate that. A nine-speed automatic transmission will send power to all four wheels, though the AWD system will be rear biased, with a torque distribution of 31 percent to the front, 69 percent to the rear.
The new C43 takes on the look of the totally redesigned C-Class Sedan, which in turn took on the look of the new S-Class.
It’s understood Mercedes-Benz Australia will introduce the C 43 AMG later this year, with global market entry taking place soon. The new “C 43” badging can be seen on the right side of the car’s rear end, with “Biturbo – 4Matic” lettering featured on the front fenders. Mercedes AMG C43 Coupe does a 0-100 kmph sprint in 4.7 seconds and has an electronically top speed of 250 kmph. AMG Ride control sport suspension with adaptive variable damping has three different settings that can be selected via a button.
Expect most other driver convenience and safety tech features to be carried over from the non-AMG Coupe.
In a teaser for its new C-Class Cabriolet, which is also debuting at the Swiss show, Mercedes sneaked in its C43 Coupe. The brakes are internally ventilated compound brake discs that are perforated at the front measuring 14.2-inches and 12.6-inches at the rear.
The rear of the vehicle also features AMG-specific appointments, including an AMG rear bumper, a boot-lid spoiler, quad exhaust pipes and an aggressive diffuser insert.
Two types of sports suspension systems, one of which is a height-adjustable system from Bilstein, a host of aerodynamic bodywork parts made from unpainted carbon fiber and a selection of 20-inch Brabus wheels can complete the tuning package.
Pricing will be announced closer to the car’s launch date, Mercedes-Benz said. Some AMG elements persist, like red contrast stitching, microfiber upholstery, a flat-bottomed steering wheel and sport seats.
