Bob Dole Endorses Marco Rubio in 2016 Race
In addition to the Bush money, Rubio is expected to reap the support of the billionaire industrialist Koch brothers and their donor network, which is expected to spend $400 million in the presidential race, according to several network donors and Koch political organization officials.
“America needs a president who will take on the status quo, establishment and entrenched interests that are standing in the way of a better future for our people, and Marco will be that kind of president”. He said Rubio officials are “being very diplomatic” about approaching Bush supporters disappointed by the Florida governor’s flameout after contests in just three states.
Rubio scored second place over Cruz this past Saturday in the sc primary, though Cruz was polling about 3 percentage points ahead nationally.
“It’s a stampede”, added another donor, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because he wanted to give Bush some time after dropping out before he went public with his support of Rubio, the US senator from Florida.
Dole also praised John Kasich, another candidate, but criticized Ted Cruz, a 2016 contender whom Dole has repeatedly attacked.
Other endorsements Monday for Rubio included U.S. Sens. In particular, Marco has stood with me in fighting for our veterans and holding the VA accountable for the unforgivable scandals and abuses we’ve seen in recent years.
“When you’re looking at Donald Trump and the momentum he has, the only way someone else wins is if that (establishment) support consolidates”, said Christian Ziegler, a Republican state committeeman from Sarasota. Both were trailing behind mogul and SC victor Donald Trump – another candidate Dole commented on Monday. But he was quickly eclipsed as Trump shot up in the polls and repeatedly ridiculed Bush as “low energy” and attacked George W. Bush’s decision to invade Iraq and his failure to stop the 9/11 attacks.
If no candidate amasses a big delegate lead, March 15 could reshape the race.
