Chart-topping Adele favored for victory at UK’s Brit Awards

Not only are these BBC Sound of 2015 winners on hand to win the Breakthrough Act and Group awards, but their number one song “King” is named among the Best British Singles and Artist Videos.

The 27-year-old singer was overcome with emotion after astronaut Tim Peake announced her as the victor of the BRITs Global Success Award, live from the International Space Station, and admitted that she had been anxious her comeback would not be a success.

Adele has seen “25” – her first album in nearly five years – sell millions of copies around the world, though her performance at last week’s Grammy Awards was unsettled when a microphone fell into a piano during the tender song “All I Ask”.

Adele broke down in tears at the Brit Awards on Wednesday as she emerged as the main victor.

Brit Awards organizer the British Phonographic Industry has promised to look at how nominees and winners are selected, “to ensure they reflect the full range of engagement with recorded music”. “And for you all to be so kind to me…”

It’s that time of year again – some of the biggest names in music are gathering for the Brit Awards 2016 – and we’re already expecting fireworks. A court recently denied a preliminary injunction which would allow her to record music outside of her record label contract.

“I’d also like to take this moment to publicly support Kesha”, Adele said, in light of Kesha’s legal battle with Dr. Luke.

“I got really lost for a while – I didn’t know if I’d ever come back”, she said.

As well as Coldplay taking the stage, the likes of Justin Bieber, Rihanna, Little Mix, Adele and more will also be performing on the night – its definitely not one to be missed!

Thanking her manager and her boyfriend, she cackled: “Not bad for a girl from Tottenham that don’t like flying, getting global success!”

“I’m really sorry for the ugly crying face”, she said.

British group Coldplay had kicked off proceedings with their song “Hymn for the Weekend”, and also picked up the award for best British group.

The ceremony included tributes to the late David Bowie before his friend Gary Oldman accepted his icon award.

Oldman said: “I never once heard him complain. We love you and we thank you”.
