Astronaut Scott Kelly Dresses Like A Gorilla On International Space Station
In the video, an astronaut in a gorilla suit chases crewmate and British astronaut Tim Peake around Benny Hill-style at super fast speed.
Scott’s identical twin brother Mark, a former astronaut, has spent the past year on Earth, allowing researchers a chance to look at a near-identical comparison of the brothers’ genomes – a major first for human space research.
“The mission will continue even after Scott returns”, said Charles.
Mr Kelly donned a gorilla suit and hid inside a storage container which was then moved into the centre of the room by Mr Peake. This is to determine the viability of missions to Mars and beyond.
When Kelly returns he will be the first American to complete a continuous year-long mission in space.
“You do grow when you’re up there for a long time”, Kelly said a year ago.
One year before they left Earth, Kelly and Kornienko began participating in a suite of investigations aimed at better understanding how the human body responds to long-duration spaceflight.
While astronauts can control R2 directly, making the robot more autonomous will make work on the station and on future deep space exploration missions more efficient.
The International Space Station’s resident robot is going blind, and NASA has put out a call to Earthlings for help. A giant gorilla, aboard the International Space Station. One hypothesis is that astronauts’ eyes change shape in space because blood volume on their upper body increases without gravity. Data collected on both Kelly and Kornienko will be shared between the United States and Russian Federation, and worldwide partners. The Twins Study is multi-faceted national cooperation between investigations at universities, corporations, and government laboratories.
Next Tuesday, Kelly, Kornienko and Sergey Volkov – who will himself have clocked up 182 days in space – will board the Soyuz TMA-18M capsule for the return leg of their epic space journey.
