Mercedes-Benz celebrates 20 years of ‘Make in India’

Mercedes-Benz has launched E-Class “Edition E” at Rs 48.60 lakh (ex-showroom Pune).

Mercedes sells the current E class with a four-cylinder BlueTEC diesel option, but that will stop when it is replaced by the new model in June, a company spokesman in Germany told Automotive News. Christened as the “Edition E”, this luxury sedan marks the 20 years of the start of production of the famed E-Class, which has the unique distinction of being the first luxury vehicle to be “Made in India”.

A new generation E-Class will be launched next year, Roland Folger, MD and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India said. This new sedan has been launched for celebrating success of E-Class in the Indian and for completing 20years of E-Class in the Indian auto market.

The Edition E is available with a choice of three engines – 1,991cc, 4-cylinder petrol (E 200), 2,143cc 4-cylinder diesel (E 250 CDI) and 2,987cc, V6 diesel (E 350 CDI).

Outside: The new era Mercedes Benz E-Class gets a special Edition E identification on both front bumpers and the storage compartment cover alongside AMG styling with a solitary brace grille.

The campaign will invite audiences to express their wishes around the E-Class, through a digital application, a dedicated micro-site and even at specially created wishing booths across the dealerships. The latest 2016 W213 E-Class was shown off last month and India will get it early next year. It recognizes critical driving situations and initiates preventive occupant protection measures.

Highlights: The Mercedes Benz E-Class Edition E accompanies 8 airbags, which is standard for all variations. The NECK-PRO head restraints for the driver and front passengercan be activated in a rear impact; a spring mechanism moves the head restraints to reduce strain on the spine. The E350 CDI gets added features like a Keyless Go Package, illuminated door sill panels and rear seat entertainment package in addition to the features from the other two models.

Above this is the Edition E E250 CDI which is priced at INR 50.76 lakh, ex-Pune.
