Microsoft releases updated Windows 10 preview builds for phone and PC

Microsoft’s new Mobile build, on the other hand, is worth downloading if you have one of the supported phones: the Microsoft Lumia 950, 950 XL, 650, and 550; the Xiaomi Mi4; and now the Alcatel ONETOUCH Fierce XL.

At this point, Redstone is still in development stage and is exclusively available for members of the Windows Insider program enrolled in the fast ring, but for the moment, all these builds are exclusively focused on fixing bugs and improving performance.

The Windows 10 PC build is now the sixth new testing build in as many weeks and this release cadence is proving to be habitual instead of just a hopeful pattern of weekly releases/ Let me tell you Windows Insiders love getting these regular updates. Microsoft’s new mobile build, however, is much more worthwhile: Microsoft fixed the visual voicemail issue from an earlier build, and has added back the useful “history” feature in the People contacts app.

Last year, it was expected to launch Windows 10 Mobile OTA update in December.

Why are you staying away from Windows powered phone like the Microsoft Lumia 950? It’s now easier to dismiss all the notifications from an individual app there because Microsoft has made the “target area” the size of the whole app header. The answers to these questions is used by our engineering teams to understand how Windows Insiders feel about a particular experience or a particular build. Starting with Build 14271 and newer, the frequency in which Windows will ask for your feedback will be locked to “Automatically (Recommended)” in the Settings app and managed by the Windows Insider Program. So one would have to disable hibernation until this issue is fixed.

Fixed an issue where some desktop (Win32) apps look missing from Start. We are partnering with Kaspersky to fix this issue for a future release, but at this time there are no known workarounds. There are a number of known issues, including some cases where PCs may freeze or bluescreen when resuming from hibernation.

When browsing in Microsoft Edge, charts displayed using D3.js library will not display correctly – e.g. render as black, positioned incorrectly.

We are seeing reports from Windows Insiders of issues connecting to wireless displays. Now, the company aims to bring the same Windows update for newer devices like Xiaomi Mi 5 and OnePlus 3.
