Kesha Releases Full Length Statement On Facebook – ‘You Are Not Alone’
Singer Kesha, who has accused music producer Dr.Luke of sexually abusing her, has released a statement on her Facebook page about her turmoil and also expressed gratitude to her supporters.
“The public outcry about Kesha’s case has been truly heartening: the swell of shock and indignation from fans and fellow performers alike”, Lena writes. Meanwhile, Taylor Swift personally donated $250,000 to the singer-songwriter to help cover her legal fees.
Wait! There’s more Kesha’s Legal Battle: 23 Celebs Who Joined the #FreeKesha Movement! “Thank you @lenadunham for helping me understand the #Kesha case and for standing up for all survivors of abuse”, the mom of three, 39, wrote on Instagram on Tuesday.
Kesha broke her silence by reaching out to her fans about her latest law suit against producer Dr. Luke. “I physically can not. I don’t feel safe in any way'”. Today, Dunham has unpacked the case in an essay titled ‘Why Kesha’s Case Is About More Than Kesha’. Meanwhile, Anne Hathaway, Reese Witherspoon, Lena Dunham, Ariana Grande and Demi Lovato have taken to social media to tell everyone that they’re on Kesha’s side.
In the heartbreaking message, she says that she’s “so, so beyond humbled and thankful for all of the support I’ve received from everyone”. But she reminds readers that Lukasz Gottwald, a.k.a. “Dr. Luke”, allegedly abused Kesha for the better part of a decade before she was able to escape his orbit.
As of now, Kesha must record 6 more albums under her abuser’s control, or record nothing at all. In addition, she claims one instance when she was 18 in which he drugged and raped her. All of this came to light in October 2014 when she finally sued him in an attempt to be released from their contract because she felt unsafe and had had enough.
According to a Facebook post by organizers, the rally “to support Kesha and end rape culture” is still scheduled for 5:45 p.m. Friday at the university’s West Quad. He threatened that if she ever mentioned the rape to anyone, he would shut her career down, take away all her publishing and recording rights…
