Man dies in Phoenix officer-involved shooting
Five people, including a little girl, are dead as well as the suspect, a 26-year-old man, according to ABC15. As Crump related, police put on breathing masks and entered the home, only to be shot at by the attacker. Police and firefighters braved bullets and flames as they responded to the fatal shooting and house fire.
In addition, one of the police officers who arrived at the scene had to be hospitalized for smoke inhalation.
Prior to the suicide, however, the gunman evidently set the house on fire and began shooting at police officers and fire fighters who tried to get in to see if they could help the victims.
Crump says a 911 caller from the home described the shooting as a domestic situation. An officer told her to go back inside.
Police Sgt. Trent Crump says the girl died at a hospital Tuesday.
