Curry has 51, hits 3-pointer in record 128th straight game
One play illustrates what Stephen Curry unleashed on the Orlando Magic on Thursday night.
He has made a 3-pointer in 128 consecutive regular-season games, breaking the record set by the Atlanta Hawks’ Kyle Korver.
Curry was on fire from beyond the arc, hitting 10 of 15 3-pointers.
Curry made a pair of free throws with 18.5 seconds left to get to the 40-point mark for the ninth time this season, and soon the Warriors walked off a victor for the 51st time in 56 games this season.
Curry was leading the league in scoring with 30.0 points per game coming in, and Thursday’s performance, which included just one free throw, pushed the mark to 30.4. Marreese Speights had 14 points and Draymond Green and Andrew Bogut 12 apiece….
Wang states that they’ve already adjusted Curry’s National Basketball Association 2K16 character to give him more leeway in throwing up three-pointers, but the developers still want to avoid and discourage the “over-dribble hero ball” symptom.
The Warriors, who are on pace to beat the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls’ record of 72 wins in a season, lured a few celebrities to the arena.
It’s Curry’s third 50-point game this season. Harrison Barnes rounded out the Warriors in double figures, finishing with 10. Aaron Gordon matched his career high with 19….
Russell Westbrook scored 44 points and Kevin Durant 32 for Oklahoma City, which trailed by 12 with a little more than 3 minutes left but got as close as two on Durant’s 3 with 13 seconds left.
The Magic were led by guard Evan Fournier with 20 points.
Center Nikola Vucevic had 17 points and nine rebounds for Orlando, who led 63-59 at halftime, but were helpless as the Warriors pulled away in the fourth.
Continuing their strong play, the Magic took advantage of the Warriors continuous mistakes on both ends. “Everybody here loves him”, Warriors coach Steve Kerr said.
