Donald Trump: Mitt Romney a ‘dope,’ ‘one of the dumbest’

“We have good reason to believe that there’s a bombshell in Donald Trump’s taxes”, Romney said in Fox News interview.

“I think there’s something there”, Romney said Wednesday, during an appearance on Fox News.

The 2012 GOP presidential nominee faced intense scrutiny to release his tax information – most notably by Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid – and Romney said that’s exactly why Trump should go ahead and release any information so voters can decide. Fresh off of getting chased around the arena by a couple of lions, Donald Trump tried to explain to CNN’s Chris Cuomo why the IRS audits him so routinely, the excuse he gave during the debate for not releasing his tax returns. “I’ve heard he’s not paid any taxes'”.

A spokesman for Rubio, Alex Conant, told Independent Journal Review that the campaign will release Rubio’s tax returns “in the next few days”.

Romney released his own tax records January 2012 and he was criticized for what they contained.

“Well, I know they certainly had a lot of problems, I mean, if you look at what’s been happening over the years – I don’t think, I don’t think it applies”, Trump said. Biting back at conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt, Trump asserted that “very few people listen to your radio show”.

Offering his assessment of the current state of the race, Romney said it would be “very difficult” for any one of Trump’s rivals to overtake him “unless perhaps the field narrows”.

I’d like to see a number of things from the candidates, not just the positions on their issues in some detail and some candidates are more thorough in laying out what they are going to do than others.

Cruz pointed a finger right at Trump’s audit.

“Oh, I’m not afraid”, Trump responded. You know as a way to – Mitt Romney, this is his way of participating in the stop-Trump movement. “We really ought to see from all three of these fellows what their taxes look like to see if there’s an issue there”, he added, also pointing to Texas Sen. He suggested that Romney “just endorse Marco Rubio already” and that he would “do what Mitt Romney was totally unable to do – win!”
