Rep: Yoko Ono hospitalized for flu symptoms, but on the mend
Legendary artist and activist Yoko Ono was rushed to a Manhattan hospital on Friday night after suffering a possible stroke, sources said.
The 83-year-old artist and musician was reportedly taken from the Dakota, where she has lived since the ’70s, to a nearby hospital, though spokesman Elliot Mintz denied reports that Ono had suffered a stroke. More detail will be added shortly.
Born in Tokyo in 1933, Yoko Ono was married to Lennon from 1969 to 1980, collaborating with the Beatle on multiple projects and numerous demonstrations of peace. Her husband, John Lennon, was shot and killed outside of the building in 1980.
“She was suffering extreme flu-like symptoms”. In fact, Ono said she never even smoked until Lennon gave her a cigarette at age 34. Ono’s Twitter account retweeted one of the reports. A representative from the New York Fire Department said that she was unconscious at the time.
She also remarked in the Us Weekly column, “I had nothing to do with breaking up the Beatles”. “According to doctors, that’s not anything bad”. This is a developing story.
