Chris Christie Endorses Donald Trump in Republican Presidential Race
At the event, he offered his enthusiastic endorsement for the NY businessman. LePage had previously backed Christie, who dropped out of the race on February 10 after a poor showing in the New Hampshire primary.
After dropping out of the race for president, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has given his endorsement to Donald Trump.
In a surprising move, Governor of the USA state of New Jersey Chris Christie has endorsed Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump. “And so the best person to beat Hillary Clinton in November on that stage last night is undoubtedly Donald Trump”, Christie said. Reporters were visibly stunned when he walked into the room.
The New Jersey governor also said the real estate magnate is deserving of trust and that “there is no better fighter than Donald Trump”. The announcement was indeed a stunner, and gives a big boost to Trump as he heads into next week’s Super Tuesday primaries.
And Baker made it clear he won’t be jumping on the Trump bandwagon with him. He will campaign in Oklahoma later today and travel to Arkansas, Tennessee, Alabama, Virginia, Georgia and beyond over the next few days.
The timing immediately following the debate, however, appeared to be a coincidence.
But on Friday, in an act of monumental cynicism, Christie endorsed Trump.
“I speak for myself, but the governor is the leader of the Republican Party in the state of New Jersey”, Gaburo said.
“Gov. Christie is an enormously respected Republican governor with great credibility”, said GOP consultant Phil Musser.
Despite the troubles of his own presidential run, Christie is a popular and prominent figure within the Republican Party.
“Maybe there is nothing in it for Christie, but a lot of time and circumstances have to pass before we know for sure, ” said New York-based political consultant Doug Watts, who was Ben Carson’s communications director in the early months of Carson’s campaign.
There was little sign that Trump’s stock was falling at the Fort Worth rally where supporters gathered.
The back-patting was a departure from some of the pair’s more heated rhetoric.
Underscoring Christie’s decision is his heated history with Rubio.
As Greg Gutfeld of Fox News put it, “Christie may have eaten Rubio’s lunch, but Trump has been drinking Christie’s shake”. “I go and I slip up something, not using a teleprompter, not being scripted – they hammer me for it”. I’m actually shocked by Christie’s endorsement of Trump because I think so much of Christie.
“I’m extremely disappointed”, Connie Schmett, who helped quarterback the Christie effort in the Iowa caucuses, told Newsmax.
And his options were limited.
Marco Rubio at the CNN GOP presidential debate in Houston, Texas on February 25, 2016. Back a Cruz campaign that continues to make headlines with deceptive campaign maneuvers, or a Rubio campaign that represents what America seems to be fed up with: another career politician? But, it could be that the difference between Christie and Graham is that one of them wants to be attorney general of the United States and one of them doesn’t.
“They come prepared to attack Trump at all costs”, said Arlene Smart, 58, of Liberty, Texas.
