The internet is turning against Donald Trump
It’s official: The Marco Rubio vs. Donald Trump war of words has gone from being somewhat policy-related… Now, however, he says “there is no one better prepared to provide America with the strong leadership that it needs both at home and around the world than Donald Trump”.
Christie, who had tormented Rubio in a previous debate, again hit out at him as he announced his support for Trump, who he said was destined to win the Republican nomination and was the best person to slug it out with Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton.
Republican Presidential hopeful Donald Trump mocked Florida Sen. “I’ve gotten the know all the people on that stage”, Christie said.
About 500 miles away in Kennesaw, Georgia, Rubio was having some fun with Trump, referring to the NY businessman’s private plane as “Hair Force One” and rendering a less-than-flattering judgment of Trump’s appearance.
Trump, meantime, branded Rubio “Mr. Meltdown” for flubbing his response to New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie in a previous debate.
Ray Washburne, who was Christie’s national finance chairman for his presidential campaign and is now unaligned, led the call. “And we have to put a stop to it. “But as he has so many times during the campaign, Trump found a way to turn the attention back onto himself just hours later with the Christie endorsement”.
Trump, who has won three of the four Republican primaries, is leading in all states that will vote on “Super Tuesday” except Texas, according to opinion polls.
When Christie was still campaigning for president, Trump had harsh assessments of his work as New Jersey’s governor.
“We don’t need any more of these Washington, D.C., acts”, Christie said of Rubio at Friday’s announcement.
At roughly the same time in Texas, Trump drew cheers after sharing his own backstage encounter with Rubio: “He was putting on makeup with a trowel”, Trump said.
He appeared disturbed that more and more people were backing Trump, insisting that they were being fooled by a con man due to their fears for the future. Taking the cue, Trump unleashed a raw assault on Marco Rubio, who went after him with fury on the debate stage the night before.
Like Trump, LePage also drew criticism for making blunt remarks about immigrants and minorities.
Ironically, Christie’s tactic was the same one used so effectively by Rubio against Trump on Thursday night, as he forced the billionaire to repeat the same talking points to describe a health care plan thin on detail.
Christie is not the first high-profile Republican to get behind Trump.
The Texas senator, a contender for the Republican presidential nomination, is extremely unpopular among his congressional colleagues.
