Gov. Chris Christie endorses Donald Trump for president

“I am proud to be here to endorse Donald Trump for president of the United States”, he said.

Christie said later that nobody could get inside Trump’s head because he’s used to fighting battles in the private sector.

Cruz told reporters Friday afternoon that the Christie endorsement was bad news for Rubio’s campaign, according to NBC News.

Trump himself seems impressed by Christie’s reputation for being ruthless and brash on the campaign trail, and described him as “somebody who is a real standout”.

Christie was the candidate that packed the most punch for the Florida Senator.

He had meant to wait to officially endorse until after Super Tuesday or the mid-March primaries, but Thursday night’s debate changed his view, the person said.

Trump may not be interested in Rubio as a running mate, but history suggests he’s not opposed to choosing one of the Republicans who’ve run against him.

But Christie’s own campaign never got off the ground – despite a late endorsement by popular moderate Massachusetts Republican Gov. Charlie Baker – and he dropped out of the 2016 race days later, after a dismal finish in the Granite State primary. “They do not know the playbook with Donald Trump because he is rewriting the playbook”. He said Trump “will do exactly what needs to be done to make America a leader around the world again”.

For Christie’s part, the move signaled an acceptance that Trump is the likeliest Republican nominee to take on likely Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton in November.

“Desperate people do desperate things”, Christie said of Rubio’s attacks while standing at Trump’s side.

Christie’s re-entry into the race also marks the second time that he has slowed Rubio on the rise. Fresh off three consecutive wins, in New Hampshire, South Carolina and Nevada, Trump now adds a nationally known, politically experienced former rival to his list of supporters.

“Woah!”, another replied. “I think I see a possible VP!” “I just watched you repeat yourself five times five seconds ago”, Rubio said with glee.

“I find it fascinating that somebody who barely shows up for work…is going to talk about somebody being unprepared”, Christie said.
