Sharks acquire Reimer, Morin from Leafs for Stalock, Smith, 2018 pick
The Toronto Maple Leafs continued their pre-deadline fire sale on Saturday by moving goaltender James Reimer and minor league forward Jeremy Morin to the San Jose Sharks for goalie Alex Stalock, forward Ben Smith and a conditional 4th round in 2018. The pending unrestricted free agent played in 13 games this season, with a 3-5-2 record, and 2.94 GAA.
The modest return for the 27-year-old Reimer was a result of a slim market for goaltenders, Lamoriello said, especially those like Reimer that may only fill a backup role.
Morin, along with goaltender James Reimer, head to San Jose in exchange for goaltender Alex Stalock, forward Ben Smith and a conditional fourth-round pick.
The Maple Leafs originally selected Reimer with the 99th overall pick (fourth round) of the 2006 NHL Draft. “We’re just in a window right now with the stretch run, we have to be on all cylinders to play well down the stretch to be ready for the season after that”.
