GOP Faces Divergent Paths After South Carolina
Clinton won the Nevada Democratic caucuses in 2008, and claims to have more than three times the volunteers Sanders has in the state.
“This is your campaign, and it is a campaign to break down every barrier that holds you back”, Clinton said in her victory speech at her Caesars Palace headquarters on the Las Vegas Strip.
Recent polls, including one from the Washington Free Beacon, have forecasted a close contest between Clinton and Sanders despite the fact that the former secretary of state held a double-digit lead over her competitor as recently as December.
In a continuing sign of her vulnerability, Sanders did best with voters looking for a candidate who is caring and honest.
A woman wears a T-shirt supporting Democratic presidential candidate Sen. That is seen as promising news ahead of Saturday’s primary in SC, where she has a 20-point poll lead, and where the large black population has always been considered Clinton-friendly.
After predicting he could pull off a political upset in Nevada and more than a week before potential wins on Super Tuesday, Bernie Sanders is assuring supporters that he is working hard to close the gap in Saturday’s primary in SC.
Who is predicted to win the South Carolina GOP primary?
Despite his win, Donald Trump has said that he still feels he’s being treated unfairly by the Republican National Committee, otherwise known as the RNC. More importantly, it could convince Clinton-wary Democrats that there may be a viable alternative to take on the Republican nominee after all. Following that thread, Covert pointed to polls from the summer that showed Sanders in the single digits and teens in SC. They suggest Donald Trump is the man to beat, Ted Cruz hovers in second with Marco Rubio perhaps in striking distance, and Jeb Bush, John Kasich and Ben Carson are scrambling behind them.
The victory is a second-straight victory for Trump after his first-place finish in New Hampshire.
Cruz’s most prominent super PAC is investing heavily in Nevada, most recently spending $573,000 on a television ad campaign in the state.
A majority of voters looking for an outsider candidate supported Trump, providing a boost to the first-time candidate for office.

“Because we can do the long game, once we get past March 1, the calendar changes dramatically”, said Jeff Weaver, Sanders’ campaign manager.
And unlike Iowa where she squeaked out a win and New Hampshire where Sanders crushed her, Nevada is diverse. What the polls don’t show, of course, is whether any Jeb Bush supporters will shift over to Rubio now that the former Florida governor has dropped out. He announced his suspension after receiving 8.3 percent of the votes in the South Carolina Republican primary.
“I want to put somebody in the White House who has a business background”, Derrick told AFP at a high school in the state capital Columbia.
Sanders, a U.S. senator from Vermont, is a self-described democratic socialist who has criticized Clinton’s ties to Wall Street and generated enthusiasm among young voters with his call for breaking up the big banks and reducing income inequality.
Marvin Teske, a 53-year-old security guard at a Reno casino, said he anxious that Sanders would have trouble winning in the fall.
Democrats and Republicans will swap locations in the coming days.
Nevada’s Republican caucus is set for Tuesday, Feb. 23.
