Van Gaal: Luke Shaw will prove himself at Manchester United

Shaw is now being tipped to shine by Van Gaal following his displays for the squad on their preseason tour of the United States, with the Dutchman confident of his impact.

Shaw was publicly admonished by Van Gaal last summer after turning up for pre-season training in poor shape following his £27million switch from Southampton. However, with Marcos Rojo, Daley Blind and Tyler Blackett all able to play at left-back, Shaw will have enough competition to step-up his game to the level the club requires.

“I think it’s a very good choice”, said Van Gaal.

They say goalkeepers are a rare breed and Manchester United’s latest recruit certainly fits the mould.

But he has the benefit that he’s an Englishman.

Romero trained with Manchester United for the first time yesterday. “I have of course spoken with Sergio and also with David and with me always the best shall be in the line-up so you have to fight”.
