John Kasich says he would leave White House bid if loses Ohio
OH is among the first states to hold a winner-take-all primary.
Cruz has a single-digit lead over Trump ahead of Texas’ primary Tuesday.
The Ohio governor echoed those comments later in the day during a town hall in Sandy Springs, Georgia, according to the New York Times.
Ohio Gov. John Kasich, who said “nobody’s gonna win but Trump” on Super Tuesday after Thursday’s Republican debate, speaks with Chuck Todd about his strategy to win voters.
Texas Senator Ted Cruz is in third place with 12 percent support and Ohio Governor John Kasich in fourth with 7 percent support.
“If some of these people would get out of the race, my head-to-head against Donald Trump, I beat him by 18 points in the State of Ohio”, Kasich told the crowd. A poll released today by Baldwin Wallace University in Northeast Ohio also showed a slight advantage for Trump over Kasich.
“Kasich can’t go for almost 20 days not winning anything and just waiting for OH to come along, ” Mariani said.
“If at some point John were to decide not to go forward with his campaign, Marco would be the primary beneficiary of that decision”, former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty said. “We have primaries for a reason: to ensure the strongest, most prepared candidate is taking on the Democrats and leading the Party at the top of the ticket”.
If Mr. Kasich wins the state he governs, and Mr. Rubio loses the state he represents in Congress, GOP power brokers will have gambled and lost with the 44-year-old freshman senator.
There’s one problem: Kasich isn’t going away. But you know what?
“I think (Trump) has a ceiling”.
John Kasich has heard the Republicans and pundits who’ve suggested he should end his presidential campaign, but he’s tuning out the pressure. “I just didn’t get it”.
“The judge had a very hard time in a very difficult time in our nation’s history”, Kasich said. Billy Hudson, R-Hattiesburg, who with her husband endorsed Kasich during a town hall meeting in Gulfport, Miss., Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2016.
With Jeb Bush out of the race, Kasich’s and Marco Rubio’s campaigns are in a fierce battle to become the so-called establishment alternative to front runner Donald Trump.
