Wayne Rooney’s Euro 2016 in doubt?
Roo has been sidelined by two weeks after damaging knee ligaments and is now wearing a heavy-duty brace to keep the joint immobilised.
United have had a brace fitted around Rooney’s knee in an attempt to stabilise the injury and ensure that the 30-year-old does not need surgery which could end his season.
Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has confirmed captain Wayne Rooney would miss out on next month’s England friendly double-header as he continues his recovery from a knee injury.
Speaking about Rojo, van Gaal said: “I’m very happy with Marcos that he played 10 or 15 minutes and how he showed already his form and shape, he was very good”.
Rooney’s absence means England manager Roy Hodgson has to find a plan that does not involve his talisman – and Harry Kane, Jamie Vardy, Danny Welbeck and Daniel Sturridge will all hope to be given a chance.
Defeated by super-bantamweight rival Carl Frampton, Quigg was in tears after the fight and it emerged Manchester United and England captain Wayne Rooney had been on hand to console him.
“After that we then have to look again”.
“I expect [David De Gea can return] because I saw the way he was today”, van Gaal explained.
“He has to ready for us first, not for the English team”.
The club’s second-highest goalscorer will be a huge miss when United take on old foes Arsenal at Old Trafford on Sunday and Rooney is expected to watch from the stands.
“Now he is resting because of the brace”.
