Dragic scores 24, Heat rally and beat Pacers 101-93 in OT
The Heat would use the second quarter to get the game within reach before they would make their second half assault and stay in the game for good. Orlando tried their best to grab, hold and trap Curry, but the Warriors’ team offense frustrated the Magic’s plans.
The Orlando Magic’s arena was packed to the rafters with frenzied, furious fans. Orlando desperately needs this one, as the Knicks are hot on their heels, with just one less win than the Magic. Only time will tell where these Warriors rank in the hierarchy of the NBA’s greatest teams.
It has opened resulted in some very interesting exchanges, and when Oscar Robertson seemed to belittle the achievement of the Golden State Warriors and specifically Stephen Curry. When the dust had finally settled, the Warriors waked away with a 130-114 victory, their 52 on the year.
Curry was the NBA’s MVP last season after averaging 23.8 points on 49 percent shooting, with a league-record 286 makes from 3-point range.
In fact, it didn’t take long to see history made.
Paul George had 31 points and 11 rebounds for the Pacers, and Myles Turner scored 16. I’m going to pressure you with three-quarters, half-court defense.
According to National Basketball Association 2K Gameplay Director Mike Wang, Curry is a “rule breaker” when it comes to shooting jumpers since conventional video game rules wherein you punish players for taking ill-advised shots doesn’t apply to him. Warriors coach Steve Kerr is also over the comparisons. The degree of difficulty on his shots is such that often we would yell, “Don’t shoot that!” if any other player were to attempt the shot.
Another Hall of Famer, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, agreed with Robertson as the Warriors close in on the NBA’s record for wins in a single season. He played 10 minutes in his first game Wednesday, contributing one point, then added five points in 14 minutes Thursday.
Jordan was a cold, cutthroat competitor who dominated opponents with steely determination.
“He had 51; he did what he wanted to do”, said Magic guard Victor Oladipo, who was among the defenders given the futile task of containing Curry. Aaron Gordon then made the Amway Center explode as he threw down a thunderous slam to tie the game at 80. Even the San Antonio Spurs, because of their perpetually grumpy coach Gregg Popovich and their perennially boring superstar Tim Duncan, aren’t a team you could fall in love with.
But this Heat team – playing without captain and leading scorer Chris Bosh – is different than the one the Warriors last saw.
The Warriors are changing the way the game is played and changing the way it is perceived as well. “They talk about analytical basketball and stuff like that”. Despite leaving behind two of the Big Three stars on the Miami Heat roster, the absence of the now Cleveland Cavaliers star appears to have taken a toll on the team. They may not always connect on them, but when they do it’s utterly demoralizing for opposing defenses.
