Apple’s Cook: What FBI wants is ‘bad for America’
When it comes to Apple products, there is always seems to be a rumored project overhead.
Tonight on ABC News, Tim Cook is talking about the ongoing war of words between Apple and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. His statement fuels speculation that the company is planning a big play in the auto industry. Former Vice President Al Gore (who occupies an Apple board seat) and Rev. Jesse Jackson were among those in the crowd, as were a bevy of Average Joes and Josephines who own Apple stock and usually compose the majority of attendees.
Tim Cook and company lead Apple’s annual shareholders meeting of 2016 this morning, and as usual there were some interesting questions and answers between those in attendance.
Cook has said he’ll pursue the legal challenge as far as the US Supreme Court.
“It’s going to be Christmas eve for a while”, Cook said. However, the Cupertino-based company is still tight-lipped about the progress of the said project. Apple, and Cook, might be excited to work on a vehicle, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that an fantastic Apple auto will ever see the light of day.
Going by the indications from Cook’s comments, Apple is not likely to publicly reveal its “Apple Car” efforts any time in the near future.
And meanwhile, there are plenty of other pressure point for Apple, which, after all, is a global company with a lot at stake.
Interestingly, Daisuke Wakabayashi of the Wall Street Journal said the electric auto, which is under the code name “Project Titan”, is now upgraded to “committed project” status. Reports about the project, supposedly called “Project Titan” internally, claim that some 600 employees are attached. It’s no secret around here that I am not a particular fan of either Apple (or any other company for that matter) or Tim Cook, but I am genuinely impressed by Cook’s spirit, insistence, and conviction displayed in this interview. And, recently, Sunnyvale residents reported hearing loud “motor” noises from a campus, where Apple has leased at least one building.
