The results will be used to determine the number of Republican delegates who represent the state at the party’s nominating convention in July.
Supporter Glenn Beck introduced Cruz and said he’s “totally fine with him being in third place, because Super Tuesday is coming”.
“Last time, Mitt Romney got over 50 percent, so Donald Trump actually underperformed [what] Mitt Romney did, not once but twice in this state”, Rubio said on “Fox and Friends”, referring to voting in 2008 and 2012.
Mr Trump has said he is confident heading into Super Tuesday.
Still, Ohio is a large winner-takes-all prize, which would help boost Kasich’s dwindling delegate count.
If Cruz wins Texas, then the contest will likely remain a three-way race, making it even easier for Trump to win the nomination.
Trump swept almost every category of voter in Nevada, including Hispanics. This follows a similar win in New Hampshire just over a week ago.
