Alicia Vikander Wins Oscar For Best Supporting Actress

Rising star Brie Larson, 26, is the favorite to take home the best actress Oscar for her compelling depiction of an abducted young woman in indie movie “Room”.

Her co-star Redmayne however, who had been nominated for best actor for the same movie, lost out to to Leonardio DiCaprio and “The Revenant”.

Accepting her awards, Vikander said, “To my mom and dad”. We can’t wait to see what she has in store tonight when she performs her Oscar nominated song “Til It Happens To You” from the documentary The Hunting Ground.

Like fellow Oscar nominee Jennifer Lawrence and fellow actress Lupita Nyong’o before her, Vikander has capitalized on her moment in the spotlight, repeatedly impressing the fashion world with elegant choices that are bold but not fussy.

Her focus then turned to acting, and her on-screen career gained traction after appearances in Swedish short films and the popular television drama series Andra Avenyn from 2008 until 2010.

“I’m very aware that things are going very well for me today, but that doesn’t mean things will be like that tomorrow”, he said according to Irish Independent.

“This has been a dream of mine since I was seven years old”, she told E! television of being an Oscars nominee. “I hope it can open up an even wider conversation”.

Soon after, she began looking for work in American and British films, sending audition tapes to casting directors.

This is a big year for Alicia Vikander.

While Rachel McAdams only attended the 2010 Oscars to present, her ethereal Elie Saab couture gown almost stole the show.

She made her feature film debut in 2010’s “Pure”, for which she won Sweden’s Guldbagge Award for best actress and received the Shooting Stars Award at the 61st Berlin International Film Festival.
