Council celebrates hat-trick of Green Flag awards for parks
“Lloyd Park was only entered into the latest Green Flag Awards as part of an agreement with the Heritage Lottery Fund, and we’re incredibly proud that judges agreed it is still worthy of Green Flag status”.

Councillor Tony Isherwood, cabinet member for environment, said: “It shows that people in Bury are benefitting from high quality green spaces, thanks to the efforts of our parks and countryside service and grounds maintenance”.
‘It’s particularly fitting that after major investment in Hutchinson Square, with a scheme that acknowledges its wartime role, it has been awarded a Green Flag in 2015, the year which marks the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain.
‘Douglas remains the sole local authority in the Island to have been awarded Green Flags.
The Green Flag is awarded to parks that are well-maintained, well-managed with excellent facilities, and offer high-quality green spaces for residents to enjoy.
Harrow council has praised its staff and park volunteers for maintaining all the parks in the borough to a high standard.
The Green Flag scheme is now extending beyond the UK with Holland, Australia, New Zealand and the United Arab Emirates among the worldwide participants.
The Green Flag Awards are judged by more than 700 experts, who volunteer their time to visit applicant sites and assess them against eight strict criteria, including horticultural standards, cleanliness, sustainability and community involvement.
