There’s an Ape in Space and Astronauts in Orbit Are Going Bananas
NASA desires to see the way the twins that are identical measure up following Mark on Earth and annually in two quite distinct surroundings – Scott in space. Humans are capable of overcoming any type of space travel challenges, said Commander Kelly.
But during a space-to-ground news conference with reporters on Wednesday, Kelly said he was feeling fine and still really enjoying his time in space.
When he comes home, he will have spent 340 consecutive days aloft, a USA record.
The global co-operation has been incredibly important, Kelly said, and that bodes well for the future in space for all humans.
The video was first posted by Captain Kelly’s twin brother Mark Kelly and it’s reportedly he who sent the gorilla suit to his brother. The last person to spend a year in microgravity was Russian cosmonaut Sergei Avdeyev in 1999. Kopra, Yuri Malenchenko of Roscosmos and Tim Peake of ESA (European Space Agency), will operate the station as a three-person crew until the arrival of three new crew members in two weeks.
Mr Kelly donned a gorilla suit and hid inside a storage container which was then moved into the centre of the room by Mr Peake.
NASA wants to know how the stressors of space flight could change the body. Understanding how astronauts recover after long-duration spaceflight is a critical piece in planning for missions to deep space.
When Kelly lands back on the earth on March 1, he will have to undergo some tests that may tell how human body behaves in space after a long stay. For the twins study research, we will continue to collect data as far out as a year after his return.
According to NASA the results from Kelly’s marathon stint in space won’t be published for at least six months with some of the learnings from the mission taking almost six years to analyse.
