Warriors’ Draymond Green apologizes for halftime outburst
At the time of the tirade, the Golden State Warriors were behind the Thunder, 57-46.
The claims and arguments against Golden State have been getting so ridiculous that Andrew Bogut had to step in and tweet about how he believes “Fat Jimmy” could beat them.
On Saturday in Golden State’s matchup with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Green (probably) spoke his mind so loudly, everyone – including ABC sideline reporter Lisa Salters – could reportedly hear him.
“I made a mistake”, Green said. “I apologized to my teammates and my coaching staff, this organization”. He didn’t get into specifics, but he did tell everyone that what happened won’t happen again.
“There’s 24-hour sports talk shows on the radio, on TV, and we’re in the spotlight because of our record”, Kerr said. During the week, Curry also set the league record for 3-pointers in consecutive games (now 129) and became the first player in league history to make double-digit 3-point baskets in back-to-back games. Green had a double-double of 14 rebounds and 14 assists to go along with six steals and four blocks.
On ESPN’s First Take, Stephen A. Smith relayed an account of Green’s rant, saying the tirade began after Green took offense to Kerr showing film to the team that included a clip of a mistake made by Green, prompting the Warriors forward to “go off”.
Curry said Saturday’s incident wasn’t the first time something like this has happened, but “we came out still united”. That’s not going to stop me from trying to get other guys open shots – whether that’s passing or screening.
Curry’s ankle was worse Sunday and he didn’t practice Monday so he could receive treatment. However, I will never quit on my teammates, as some have reported.
“I will never quit on my coaching staff, I will never quit on this organization”.
Yikes. Needless to say, Green was frustrated with his shooting, which reportedly prompted a halftime locker room outburst that was vaguely described on the air during the game. I support and represent this organization to the best of my ability. “Nothing major happened. Obviously, we came out and played great in the second half, so it’s all good….”
“I don’t know that we would be a championship team without him and his firebrand personality”, Myers said Monday, per Monte Poole of CSN Bay Area.
