Up to 5 inches of snow expected in Detroit; weather advisory issued

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Cook, DuPage, Kane, DeKalb, and four other counties in IL from 9 p.m. Monday to 9 a.m. Tuesday.
Jefferson and Lewis counties could see accumulations of between 5 and 10 inches of snow and one quarter of an inch of ice.
Monday: Overcast skies and windy.
After a record setting high of 61 Sunday. we can expect a late season storm to bring snow and wind later tonight into Tuesday.
Winds should die down to 17 to 22 miles per hour after midnight.
A high wind watch from the NWS yesterday was upgraded to a warning earlier today. Another chance for light snow exists for Wednesday night and Thursday in Iowa. The sun is likely to shine Tuesday morning as temperatures hit the mid-40s. The snowfall is expected to wind down by Tuesday’s evening commute. Chicago, and most of Cook and DuPage counties should get 1 to 3 inches of snow.
A high wind warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected or occurring, according to the weather service.
