Wenger challenges Arsenal to rebound from United setback
Marcus Rashford, 18, scored a brace in Manchester United’s 3-2 win over Arsenal, taking his tally to four goals in two matches.
Rashford struck two more goals in United’s thrilling 3-2 win over Arsenal on Sunday in what was arguably the brightest moment in the most trying of recent seasons for the club.
The Dutchman told reporters during the post-game interview that Manchester United displayed awesome defense against Arsenal and that the fans at Old Trafford also made a huge impact in the player’s morale.
Manchester United’s Dutch manager is known to be undemonstrative, but this did not stop him from engaging in some play-acting.
He said: “Obviously Marcus is going to get the headlines but I thought Guilly was terrific at right-back and especially after getting a yellow card against somebody like Sanchez”.
Ravaged by injuries, Louis van Gaal was forced to field a side with new names and a lot of inexperience.
“The player who was surprising for me talent-wise was Rashford because of the timing of his movement and his intelligence”, the Frenchman said.
“I can understand it last Thursday against Midtjylland when you come in without any pressure but the second time is always more hard and he did all the things I asked of him”.
Ander Herrera restored his side’s lead midway through the second-half but Arsenal responded nearly immediately through Mesut Ozil. We have seen this season all the teams above slip up and all the teams have some bad results.
‘He scored two goals against Midtjylland and now against Arsenal. As from now we only think about Watford.
“This Arsenal team just doesn’t have “it” – and I’ll stand on my head if they prove me wrong and go and win this league”. “It was a shock playing in midweek because (Anthony) Martial was meant to be starting and that benefitted me because I wasn’t thinking about the game too much”.
