Winter Storm Warning Issued for Toronto, Surrounding Areas
Vaughan, Richmond Hill, Markham, Caledon, Newmarket, Georgina, Uxbridge, northern York Region, and northern Durham Region were added to the list of areas covered under the winter storm warning this morning.
In addition to Toronto, winter storm warnings have also been posted for Mississauga, Milton, Burlington, Hamilton, and Niagara.
Environment Canada says the low will tap into moisture from the Gulf of Mexico and has the potential to intensify into a “significant winter storm”.
Environment Canada says people should consider rescheduling all non-essential travel until the weather improves. We could see between 15 to 30 centimetres of snow tomorrow as well as freezing rain and ice pellets. Exact snowfall amounts will depend upon the exact track of the developing storm. Travelling conditions could rapidly deteriorate.
However, it’s not a bad start to the first day of March – considering our Canadian friends to the east of us are still experiencing quite a bit of snow. “Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow”, Environment Canada said.
