Ku Klux Klan Clashed With Protesters At California Gathering
– Three counter-protesters were stabbed Saturday while clashing with Ku Klux Klan members staging a rally at a park in Anaheim, where 13 people were arrested. As such, all five members of the hate group who were arrested have been released.
La Pointe says the strong reaction against the Klan has a lot to do with racial tensions in Anaheim, and points out that the Anaheim city council recently voted down a measure to protect people of color against police brutality in Orange County.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the Klan had announced Saturday’s rally in Pearson Park forduled for 1:30 p.m. At 11 a.m., several dozen protesters had arrived for a confrontation.
The hate group members were among a dozen people arrested Saturday after a melee broke out between KKK demonstrators and counterprotesters, the Anaheim Police Department said Sunday in a statement. Levin spoke with Gary and Shannon on KFI Los Angles about the incident. So far, the police and the director of an anti-hate group corroborate that version of the violence. The rally ended at Anaheim City Park, where almost 15,000 recruits were initiated into the order and celebrated with a fireworks display.
Breitbart News was also able to obtain exclusive footage of the terrifying scene, which shows one of the Klansmen prodding a flag pole into the torso of a counter-protester in an apparent act of self-defense.
He told ICTMN, “With the reactive climate and young people who have been killed and actually murdered by police-it’s not a good time for the KKK to parade around”. That same eyewitness claimed, “The counter-protesters were so angry, they would have torn these folks limb from limb”.
“He was told how to contract for officers to do that, but did not want to spend the money”, Wyatt said. Charles Donner, the only Klansmen held over the weekend, got released yesterday even though he stood accused of stabbing three counter-protesters, spilling their blood all over the sidewalk.
In response to questions regarding police presence at the park, APD personnel were dedicated to the event, and were present. “Additional units continued arriving over the next few minutes, ” Wyatt said.
The man responded: “I thank you”. Authorities said the Klansmen stabbed three counter protesters – and at least one person was stabbed with the decorative end of an American flagpole.
Officers arrested five KKK members – four males and one female – for involvement in the stabbings.
Like many other USA cities, Anaheim has a history intertwined with the KKK.
The case now goes to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office for review, where judges will determine whether to file criminal charges.
Seven of the counter protesters were arrested on suspicion of assault with force likely to cause great bodily injury.
