Los Angeles Clippers introduce ‘Chuck the Condor’ mascot and the Internet reacts
Including Monday’s difficult-to-come-by 105-95 victory over the Brooklyn Nets before a sellout of 19,060 at Staples Center, Paul has led the Clippers to a 22-7 record in Griffin’s absence.
Twice in a row, Paul fed Jordan, who converted alley-oops into monster jams.
Most of the Clippers didn’t see Ballmer’s dunk because they were in the locker room at halftime.
“[Chuck] is like us – it used to be extinct but now it is coming back”, LA coach Doc Rivers said. “That is how they played”.
Brook Lopez led Brooklyn with 25 points and 10 rebounds and Bojan Bogdanovic scored 19 points. “We did it down the stretch, but we didn’t do it all game”. Starting at the end of the third quarter, the Clippers went on a 14-1 run to take an 87-90 lead midway through the fourth quarter.
The Nets have surprisingly won five of their last nine games and are now going for a third straight win after sneaking past the Jazz in a 98-96 win on Saturday. The team later said he has a possible concussion….
NOTES: Injured backup PG Austin Rivers, who has missed 10 games with a broken left hand, is expected to return Wednesday when the Clippers host the Oklahoma City Thunder.
According to the team’s official website, Chuck is “a California Condor who personifies the passion and “be relentless” drive of team owner Steve Ballmer”. With the successful dunk, Ballmer bought all fans in attendance a new pair of Converse sneakers, the same type of sneakers being worn by the new mascot.
Then during a timeout in the fourth quarter, a fan hit a halfcourt shot to win a new auto.
Paul didn’t initially believe Ballmer had done it.
But if it was open, Chris Paul would be one of those guys that you would have to say… especially since Christmas, there’s no doubt that he’s one of the best players in the National Basketball Association, if not the best, other than Curry. However, they looked pretty good in their 117-107 win at Sacramento on Friday thanks to a massive night from their leader.
Nets: Visit the Lakers on Tuesday night.
Brooklyn took care of the ball for most of the night, committing only eight turnovers in the first three quarters.
