Adele and Lady Gaga take to Twitter to support Leonardo DiCaprio
This may finally be the year he takes home a well-deserved Academy Award for Best Actor for his role in “The Revenant”.
DiCaprio, who has been nominated for five acting Oscars to date, earned his first Academy Award for his role as real-life fur trapper Hugh Glass in Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu’s survival thriller, and he paid a warm tribute to his film collaborators as he stepped up onstage.
It was at the 2009 Golden Globes that Kate won Best Actress for a Motion Picture Drama and thanked Leo, saying, “Leo, I’m so happy I can stand here and tell you how much I love you, and how much I’ve loved you for 13 years”.
While the actor didn’t mention Winslet directly, he did use his win as a platform to speak about a cause close to his heart, the environment.
Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio’s friendship all started with Titanic in 1997.
“Let us not take this planet for granted”, he said. The two were snapped hugging, exchanging sweet kisses on the cheek and holding hands.
Lady Gaga is the latest celebrity to support Leonardo DiCaprio ahead of his big night at the Oscars.
“I’m just super excited for him, the sense of good will behind him and that everyone wants it for him”, Winslet told The Independent. “I mean, literally, people in the street go, ‘Hey Kate, you know it’s Leo’s year, ‘ and I’m like, ‘Hip, yeah!” I think he’s more handsome than he’s ever been.
