Terror police arrest woman with three children at airport
The woman, whose details have not been released, was detained at Birmingham Airport this morning as she prepared to leave the country with three children.
The woman, from Leicester, was arrested by officers from the West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit at 9:40 am today, police said.
Officers are working with other agencies to ensure the children’s welfare, West Midlands Police said. She was arrested under section five of the Terrorism Act.
The woman’s home address and another associated property are now being searched.
The arrest is the latest in a string of interventions by the authorities as part of efforts to prevent Britons travelling to Syria.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson confirmed the force was investigating the disappearance of a man from Wembley, adding: “The 22-year-old was reported missing on Tuesday”.
